The Mission Fields

Sunset has at its heart the desire to share the Good News of Jesus with a lost world, both domestically and globally. Following are areas in which we are involved in our missions outreach:

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. World Bible School

Volunteers within the congregation teach the Bible to students in several African nations. This has been the single most successful approach to world wide evangelism that we have been involved in. This program is overseen by one of our elders, Harold Hadley.



DOMESTIC MISSIONS We are a church planting church. Having been blessed with much growth over the past decade, a decision was made not to become a mega-church. Instead, with God's help our goal has been to plant as many new congregations in the greater Springfield area as we can. In November of 2000 ap- proximately 75 members went out from Sunset to plant a new congregation in Nixa, MO (a suburb of Springfield). God has blessed this effort tremendously and today the Union Hill Church of Christ is a family of believers comprising over 400 and have moved into their new building. In January 2006 we sent a 150-member team of church planters to Brookline, MO (a suburb to the west of Springfield). God has blessed Brookline and that congregation is now up over 250. As the Lord continues to give the increase we hope to faithfully plant new churches in our area in the years to come. Read and look up scriptures online at BibleGateway.com	FOREIGN MISSIONS Central America Missions We are involved in the support of Charles Renfro who prints Christian educational material in Spanish through the work of the Forrest Park Church of Christ in Valdosta, GA. These materials are shipped to churches throughout Latin America. Mexico Two campain trips are made annually to various locations in northern Mexico to assist mission churches with building projects. We work with Rick Owens who is our on site organizer for this work.
