Our Missions
Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
[Matt. 28:18-20]

The Mission Fields

Sunset has at its heart the desire to share the Good News of Jesus with a lost world, both domestically and globally. Following are areas in which we are involved in our missions outreach:

      Sharing The Good News

  World Bible School

World Bible School

Volunteers within the congrega- tion teach the Bible to students in several African nations. This has been the single most successful approach to world wide evangelism that we have been involved in. This program is overseen by one of our elders, Harold Hadley.

  Prison Ministry

Prison Ministry

The Prison Ministry is an evangelistic outreach provided through correspondence for prisoners confined in several U.S. prisons. Volunteers write personal letters to each prisoner, developing a relation- ship, while providing a series of lessons to acquaint and further the student's knowledge of the Bible. This program is overseen by one of our elders, Don Johnson.

  Evangelistic Bible Studies

Bible Study

Bible classes are available for all ages at the building on Sunday morning and Wednesday evening.  Personal Bible Study is also available upon request.

DOMESTIC MISSIONS

Union Hill Church of Christ

We're passionate about
church planting!

UNION HILL

In November of 2000, our church planting minister, Steve Martin, and 75 of our members, including three of our elders, began meeting in a warehouse in Nixa, MO. During those early years they dealt with the cold of winter and the heat of summer with only one bathroom facility. They pioneered through these difficulties and began a new building on an 18 acre site, doing most of the work with wolunteer labor. They moved into the first phase of that new ficility in 2004, and in early fall of 2009, the over 400 believers of  Union Hill Church of Christ moved in to their new completed auditorium (pictured above).

Brookline Church of Christ

BROOKLINE

In January of 2005, having seen the success of the first plant, an even larger group wanted to be part of the second plant. Our youth minister, Tony Gentry, transitioned to become the preaching minister and again, three of our elders went out with this group of 150. Due to the generosity and sacrifice of many of those, both sending and going, the Brookline Church of Christ was able to meet from the first day in a completed facility on 18 acres of land. Within the first year, the growing number of young families required the addion of a new education wing on this facility.

WILLARD

Jackson Street Church of ChristEarly in 2009, the leaders of Union Hill, Brookline and Sunset met together to pray and plan the third church plant. Each of the congregations planned to contribute and on March 22, 2010, papers were signed to purchase a 9 1/2 acre property as home to the new Jackson Street congregation. They met for the first time September 18, 2011.

We also offer support to a congregation in Granby Colorado through visits from members and groups and with supplies. The Granby Church of Christ has approximately 40 members.

HISPANIC CHURCH PLANT

Sunset is working with several area congregations to help establish a Hispanic congregation of the Church of Christ in the Springfield area. We are still in the early stages but hope to have major steps taken this year.
